The Choirs at Pickerington are well known around the community and state. They have a good reputation for excellence when and where ever they perform. The Choirs are open to all students who like to sing. The choirs participate in Fall, Christmas/Holiday, and Spring Concerts as well as competitions. They are also featured in many of the PHSC Choir’s “Guest Artists Series” Concerts which featured local and nationally know performers. Occasionally the choirs will participate in out-of-state performance trips as well as performances throughout the State of Ohio. They also participate in local community and civic events. The choir has other social events outside of their regular rehearsal and performance schedule. The choirs meet during the school day and sometimes have rehearsals after school or in the evening. Students participating in these groups should have a high regard for all types of music and exhibit good self-discipline

Pickerington Central Choir Earns High Ratings and Rave Reviews in Florida

56 members of the Pickerington Central Choir program journeyed south during spring break to perform in the All Star Music Festival and Universal Studios “Stars” program. The choir earned a “Superior” rating, the highest award given at the All Star festival and were first in class in the choir category.

One of the highlights of the many awards the choir won was the “Es sprit de Corp” award. Judges and members of the All Star Music Festivals evaluated all the marching bands, concert bands, jazz bands, orchestras, and choirs that attended and gave an award to the one school that they felt displayed the best “team effort.” The school that was well mannered, worked with the staff and chaperones the best, and displayed pride in their group. That award went to the Pickerington Central Choir!

 

The Choirs at Pickerington are:

The Chorale
 This is a select singing and choreography group of 24 singers and accompanists, that is determined through highly competitive auditions held in the Spring of each year.
Symphonic Choir
 This organization is open to any Freshman, Sophomore, Junior or Senior Boy and Junior and Senior Girls.
Concert Chorale (Sophomores)
 This organization is open to any Sophomore girl.
Concert Choir (Freshmen)
 This organization is open to any Freshman Girl.
PHSC Gospel Choir
 Only meets after school as determined by the director.  This group will focus on performance of quality gospel literature.

Previous singing experience in Junior High Choir is suggested but not a requirement.
